W2O Admin Dropdown Menu

Description

THE POPULAR HORIZONTAL DROPDOWN MENU FOR WORDPRESS ADMIN

W2O Admin Dropdown Menu is a simple horizontal dropdown menu for WordPress Admin that eliminates the left menu and saves screen space. All the left menu links of wp admin are available in the form of horizontal dropdown menu (or say floating menu bar). It does not add additional horizontal dropdown menu like other plugin does. It simply uses the WordPress top menu bar (admin bar) to create the horizontal dropdown menu eliminating the admin’s left menu section. The beauty lies in the simplicity, isn’t it!

MAJOR FEATURES

  • Responsive horizontal dropdown menu. Auto adjustable when there are many menus and overflows down.
  • Uses WordPress default dashicons as menu icons (for parent menus). Also retains the original image as icon (like SVG, PNG) used by 3rd party plugins for their parent menu. But the plugin itself does not use any extra image. It maintains originality!
  • Uses the selected WordPress Admin Color Scheme for its menu bar color, menu icons (dashicons) color, font color etc. Thus we call it “WordPress environment friendly” menu.
  • Retains WordPress original “admin bar menu toggle” mechanism for Mobile devices.
  • Finally, no headache to setup/configure any additional settings. Just install the plugin, activate it, and enjoy!!!

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

  • With version 3.0 (and onwards), “W2O Admin Dropdown Menu” is compatible with “Admin Menu Editor” plugin as well. It works perfectly with the latest version of “Admin Menu Editor” plugin.
  • Like before a feature to display “ICONS ONLY” as parent menus still exists in the plugin. To use this feature you simply need to set the value of ‘wpiconsonly’ to 1 (i.e. from ‘wpiconsonly’ => 0 to ‘wpiconsonly’ => 1) in “core.php” at line number 261 (fyi, “core.php” resides inside your “/wp-content/plugins/w2o-admin-drop-down-menu/core/” directory).

If you like this plugin then why don’t you drop an email at shishir.adhikari@gmail.com saying “I loved it…”. I would really appreciate that.

This plugin is absolutely fantastic and I use it in all of my many WordPress installations. Actually, the horizontal admin menus have become so familiar to me that I'm quite irritated when I see a standard WordPress admin menu "right out of the box". From my point of view, there is little or no room for improvement. However, since the plugin hasn't been updated for more than two years, there is a "warning" shown on the plugin page in the plugin repository which states: "This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress." This may prevent new potential users from downloading and testing the plugin. My advice to the developer (if he's still around): Provide an update, no matter how trivial it may be. Just add "tested for WordPress 5.0 compatibility" or something like that... Your plugin deserves far more attention!

Some users are surprised with the vertical menu. Most users prefer what they know.

My old, trusty admin menu plugin started acting strangely with some newer menu items. This little plugin nailed it perfectly. Thanks!!!

I was excited to find this plugin, as Ozh Dropdown Admin Menu is no longer maintained. However, it ignores changes made to the menu by Admin Menu Editor: still displays menu items that were hidden, and does not show reorganization of menu items. That makes it pretty much useless to me. UPDATE: plugin now compatible with Admin Menu Editor. Like W2O even better than Ozh Admin Menu, which I'm going to replace in about 60 sites over the next few days. Good job, Shisher!

This does what it was intended to do, so big thanks to the dev.

If you need such a feature, this plugin is interesting. But it seems it does not manage items showing on admin top bar. No more problem with this and it may be an interference with another plugin.
